Lisa McCance

Lisa has worked in Economic Development for 15 years at a local and regional level. She has extensive experience of designing and developing strategies and programmes to deliver positive outcomes in support of local areas and their economy.

Lisa is Programme Director at Si and before joining established and headed up the Economic Development division at Croydon Council. This involved writing and launching the Economic Development Strategy, Skills and Employment Strategy as well as the Croydon Promise: The Growth Plan for Croydon.

Prior to that, she managed an extensive programme of Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) which involved the creation of strategies to support local business and residents. This involved business support programmes at a regional level, developing programmes to support start-up and upskilling as well as developing business cases for capital investment in a partnership structure with multiple delivery partners and stakeholders.

Lisa has designed and established new economy functions building on inward investment, skills and employment, business retention and support to SMEs while working with a range of external agencies. This year she has recently written the Economic Development Strategy for Thurrock as well as an Inclusive Growth Strategy for Basildon. These strategies involved creating a comprehensive baseline of growth-related measures, local and regional priorities and propositions and worked with senior officers, Members and the private sector to gain consensus.

Lisa has delivered sector skills plans for the Black Country. She also developed Gloucestershire’s Infrastructure Investment Pipeline to support economic growth and plans for devolution; and continues to provide specialist support for Gloucestershire. She is currently working with Sutton to deliver the future workforce requirements for the Health, Science and Social Care sectors in support of the London Cancer Hub.
