Kingston economic growth and development strategy

We developed an Economic Growth and Development Strategy (EGDS) for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames (RBK). At the time, the council was embarking on a period of reform, with the creation of a Local Plan, an Inward Investment Strategy, a Cultural Strategy, and development plans at a ward level. The EGDS was designed to take account of these key priorities and propose a set of actions for the borough to deliver inclusive growth.

To ensure the strategy was grounded in local strengths and focused on desired outcomes, we completed a literature review of relevant policy documents and created an economic evidence base. This evidence base explored new ideas and tested previously identified priorities.

We facilitated a series of workshops which generated rich discussions. These insights enabled us to identify and refine six priority areas considered the most important for achieving the borough’s growth ambitions.

We also developed a set of specific actions aimed at delivering both short- and long-term outcomes across the identified priority areas.
