About This Project

Kingston economic growth and development strategy

We are currently developing an Economic Growth and Development Strategy (EGDS) for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames (RBK). The council is currently embarking on a period of reform, with the creation of a Local Plan, an Inward Investment Strategy, a Cultural Strategy and development plans at a ward level. The EGDS is designed to take account of these key priorities and develop a set of actions for the borough to progress to deliver inclusive growth across the borough.

In order to ensure a strategy that is based on local strengths and required outcomes we completed a literature review of relevant policy documents and created an economic evidence base. This evidence base has explored new ideas and tested the priorities which were previously identified.

We facilitated various workshops in which rich discussion was produced. This new knowledge has enabled us to identify and build upon six priority areas which are considered to be the most important areas that need to be addressed in order for growth ambitions to be achieved.

We are also developing a set of specific actions which will deliver both long and short term outcomes in the priority areas identified.
