Between 2002 and 2021 Shared Intelligence supported the National Neighbourhood Management Network, and its successor the National Association for Neighbourhood Management (NANM). These two organisations championed peer learning across England between individuals involved in neighbourhood management and other forms of locality working. The NANM also helped develop the learning and networking programme for Big Local, the resident-led programme in which 150 communities were offered £1m each to spend or invest over ten years.
The NANM’s final publication Neighbourhood working beyond the pandemic was based on interviews undertaken at the height of the pandemic with individuals who have been central to developing and delivering neighbourhood management. These personal stories illustrate the skills and ethos exemplified by the neighbourhood management approach.
In 2018 the NANM published Doing the right thing the results of research into neighbourhood management in 36 English local authorities and how it had evolved since its introduction in the early 2000s.
