As 2025-26 draws to a close we’ve been reflecting on our achievements over these past 12 months. One of the most significant achievements was our 25th birthday as a company.
Over a period of a quarter of a century(!) our worked has evolved in many ways that would surprise our 25-years-ago selves. Not least the amount of work we now do remotely, and the sheer volume of information we ingest daily.
Many things have also remained constant: our clients’ desire to improve public services and increase their impact, the importance of getting to the heart of what works and what does not, and the value of asking the right questions not just hoping for the right answers.
Our timeline of the past 25 years illustrates how much our world changes. The reverberations of 9/11. The growth of the “Northern Way” into a national programme of devolution (and perhaps at last real fiscal devolution).
Our timeline also illustrates how many ideas and policies come around again and again for good reasons and for less good reasons.
Most of all our timeline reminds us how much work our small company has completed, how many places and individuals we’ve worked with, and the difference we and our clients have collectively made.
